Things to see in Armintza and on the Biscay coast

Armintza on foot
Armintza is best explored at a leisurely pace. The port is the heart of the village, with its maritime atmosphere, terraces and small waterside spaces. You can reach the rocky beach, walk beside the Cantabrian Sea and enjoy the coastal landscape without taking the car.

Armintza has several places to enjoy lunch or dinner within a few minutes of the hotel, particularly around the port. Begotxu, Arrantzale, Noray and Kaian all have terraces where you can enjoy a drink overlooking the harbour and the sea. Staying in Armintza allows you to enjoy the local cuisine without travelling far.

The Basque coast: walks and hikes
The area around Armintza allows you to enjoy both the sea and green hills during the same stay. Country paths, walks beside the Cantabrian Sea and routes through some of Uribe Kosta’s finest scenery begin in the village.
One of the most interesting routes follows the coast from Armintza to Gorliz, passing close to the lighthouse and historic coastal defences. You can also continue towards Plentzia or explore the country paths and cliffs of Lemoiz.
It is an excellent base for walking, unwinding and enjoying the landscapes of the Biscay coast.

Day trips from Armintza
Armintza’s location makes it possible to explore much of Biscay without travelling long distances. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe is around 40 minutes away by car, while Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum are around 30 minutes away.
The villages and beaches of Gorliz, Plentzia, Barrika, Sopela and Getxo are also well worth visiting. You can also devote a full day to exploring other parts of the Basque coast.
